Walker's Blood Orange Olive Oul Brownies

This recipe was inspired by love and chocolate! Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and if you are anything like us, we want to make something sweet and delicious for our love ones. So, with a little bit of our Huajillo Honey and a whole lot of creativity, this light airy brownie will bee perfect for any palate!

What you need:

- 1/4 cup of Blood Orange Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil (available in our store)

-3/4 cup of Orange Blossom Honey (we decided to use Huajillo Honey since it is milder in flavor -- the Orange Blossom Honey will produce a sweeter brownie)

-1 teaspoon vanilla extract

-2 eggs

Farm Fresh Eggs

-1/2 cup all-purpose flour

-1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

-1/4 teaspoon baking powder

-1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (option)

How you do it:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)

2. Grease a 9x9 in baking pan

3. In a medium bowl, mix together the Blood Orange Olive Oil, Orange Blossom Honey, and Vanilla (wet mixture)

4. Beat eggs into the wet mixture

5. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt (dry mixture)

Measuring Dry Ingredients

6. Gradually stir in the dry mixture with the wet mixture until well blended

7. (Optional) Stir in walnuts

8. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan

9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes (hint -- when the brownies begin to pull away from the edges of the pan it is almost finished but always check using the toothpick method)

10. Let cool and add a fun topping (We used a homemade whip cream with an orange slice which will bring out the citrus in the brownie. For a more chocolate experience, we suggest a fudge frosting or a chocolate drizzle topping)

This brownie will be more "cake like" than a dense traditional brownie. However, this is one of the best brownies to enjoy with mead! It's not too sweet or heavy -- it's just right!

We suggest pairing the Dancing Bee Winery's Citrus Tango for a more citrus experience or Dancing Bee Winery's Traditional Sweet Mead for a perfect balance between the sweet mead and not so sweet brownie!
